President Biden is finalizing his commitment to America by securing an additional 200 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine by the end of the summer. The U.S. government has now pre-purchased enough vaccine doses to vaccinate the population twice over.
“My predecessor — to be very blunt about it — did not do his job in getting ready for the massive challenge of vaccinating hundreds of millions of Americans,” Biden said.
It is expected to meet its commitment of supplying 100 million doses by the middle of the year.
The Biden administration has proven that front liners and seniors have been the priority since in office. However, the planned extra doses will not be immediately available to everyone, meaning that the existing supply shortages plaguing the rollout are likely to continue, at least in the short term.
