Social Media Reaction to Proposed Cuts of ‘Meals on Wheels’

According to CNN, Donald Trump’s budget blueprint suggests cutting funds to the Community Development Block Grant, “which provides money for a variety of community development and anti-poverty programs, including Meals on Wheels.”

Here are some alarming stats from Meals on Wheels and the support they give to seniors in the comfort of their own home.

Not only does ‘Meals on Wheels’ provide food to the elderly and impoverished, they provide human-contact that isolated, home-bound seniors need.

Although the cuts won’t end the services of ‘Meals on Wheels’ their spokeswoman Jenny Bertolette said in an interview with CNN’s Eliott C. McLaughlin that, “It is difficult to imagine a scenario in which they will not be significantly and negatively impacted if the President’s budget were enacted.”
