How You Should Contact Medicare

There are three main ways to contact Medicare. By determining your reason for contacting Medicare, you can figure out which way is best for you to reach out for your answers.

The first way to contact Medicare is by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. This line is free to call and best for any general questions or if you want to speak to someone. It’s not recommended to discuss billing information over the phone.

For specific billing questions about your records, claims or other expenses, you can log into your MyMedicare.gov account. All of your information is under your account and you can find the form to give someone else clearance for your information if you need to.

If you have information or paperwork to turn in and want to talk to someone in person, you should visit your local Social Security Office. You should call ahead to make sure that they will be able to help you and that you will be able to show up prepared with all the correct information and documents.
