Meals on Wheels

Not Covered by Medicare

Meals on Wheels is a nutrition program that feeds homebound seniors and some people with disabilities. If you are homebound and unable to feed yourself due to medical conditions, mental limitations, or affordability, Meals on Wheels may be able to help you.

Medicare does not cover Meals on Wheels. Medicare Advantage plans may provide coverage on a limited basis.

Meals on Wheels operates on a sliding scale, and they do not deny service to people based on how much they can pay. Some programs will accept food stamps for payment as well. Contact your local program for information on eligibility and costs.

What to Know

Visit the Meals on Wheels website and find your local program to get meals delivered, donate, or volunteer.

Medicaid also offers a home food delivery program, if you qualify.

Medicare By State

Medicare is regulated by the federal government. However, private insurance companies are allowed to offer various parts of Medicare, and these plans can differ from state to state.
