Ostomy supplies and accessories can help ensure a secure seal after a procedure such as a colostomy, ileostomy, or urinary ostomy. Ostomy accessories are used to further protect the stoma, secure a tight seal, and keep the skin around the stoma separate from bodily waste.
Medicare does not usually cover all costs when it comes to ostomy products, but it will cover 80 percent of each order. You are responsible for the remaining 20 percent. However, if you have a Medicare supplemental insurance plan or a replacement plan that covers all expenses, you may be able to get your ostomy supplies entirely free, with no out-of-pocket costs.
You will be responsible for paying 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for your doctor’s services and supplies, and the Medicare Part B deductible applies.
